Why do I need a consultation before a hair service?

How long will it take for my hair to loc?
Your hair curl pattern determines the length of time it takes to loc from the early stages. A tight curl will take about 3-6 months. A medium curl pattern can take between 6-12 months while a long curl pattern can take up to 18 months to loc.
Yes, you can dye locs providing your hair is able to withstand the chemical process. There are various ways in which your colourist will carry out tests to check the condition of your hair to indicate if dyeing your locs is possible at that time.
What products can I use in my hair?
The condition of your hair should reflect the needs it has. There are particular products which are specifically designed for varying needs such as dry hair, oily hair, chemically processed hair; the list goes on. Identifying your hair needs, can help you decide the best product to use.
You can cut your locs into a style of your choice. Some people prefer to wear their locs long and others prefer short styles. It is wholly up to you on how your chose to roc your locs.
Why is it recommended that I must cover my hair with a ‘silk head tie’?
It is recommended to use silk as a head wrap as it is one of the few materials that has lint. Using a silk head tie can eliminate dirt being attracted to locs.
My hair is thinning at the front what can I do?
If your hair is thinning it is best to seek professional advice from a hair trichologist.
Why should I condition my hair after washing it?
Conditioning your hair after a wash can restore and replenish any moisture that has been lost to the hair. Some conditioners can help to reconstruct the hair too.
I have lice, what should I do?
If you have an infestation there is a risk of cross-infection to both consultant and other clients. This will need to be addressed promptly. The only solution may be to cut locs if high street products do not work. However, there has been a tried and tested method used to eradicate head lice successfully. If you think you may have an infestation, speak to your loctician.
I have an itchy scalp, which is the best product to use?
There are a range of products available to deal with an itchy scalp. A scalp that is itching is reacting to something. This could be the result of using a product; in which case you stop using it. Overactive production and shedding of cells can cause the scalp to itch (stress related or hereditary). Treatments such as oil conditioners or conditioning creams which are applied to the scalp can help. An irritated scalp may require medical attention and treatment. It is always best to identify the cause of an itchy scalp before selecting a product to use.
